Connection Object List

Connection Object List to the left of the query editor displays the information on the metadata of available objects from the target connection. It displays all the available objects or a list of fields from a selected object.

You can hide and display Connection Object List with the query-icon-quote button on the Status bar.

Connection Object List consists of the following elements:

Connection Object List Header

Connection object list header shows what is displayed in the connection object list - a list of all tables/objects in the connection or a list of the fields in a specific table. If you navigated to this table via a foreign key, the header also displays the name of the used foreign key column.

When displaying table fields, connection object list header also contains two buttons:

query-icon-less - this button on the left side of the header allows navigating back to the previous table or to the list of all tables.

query-icon-arrow-down - this button on the right side of the header opens the breadcrumbs list, which lists all the tables, by relationships of which you have navigated to the current table, and the corresponding foreign key fields used for navigation, and the All Tables entry. You can click an entry in this list to navigate back to the corresponding table or to the list of all tables.

Search Box

This box allows you to quickly find a table or a field in the list. For this, start typing the name of the desired table or field in the list. The list will display only the tables or fields having this string in their names.

Additionally the search box contains the following buttons:

query-icon-sort-updown - This button allows you to sort the list of table fields alphabetically. By default, table fields are not sorted, and go in the same order as in the data source. Clicking it switches sorting between ascending, descending, and unsorted state. This button is not displayed when the list of tables is displayed.

query-icon-refresh - This button allows refreshing metadata, displayed in the list.

Object List

Object list under the search box actually displays the connection tables or their fields. First it display the connection tables (and views for databases). After you click a table, it displays the list of its fields.

When it displays the list of table fields, it displays query-icon-relation icons to the right of foreign key fields. You can click this icon to navigate to the corresponding parent table. For more details about browsing tables by relations in the Connection Object List see How to Create Joins Explicitly.
