Copying Slack data to Heroku Postgres cannot be simpler. You just need to perform the following three simple steps.
Specify necessary connection parameters for Slack.
Specify necessary connection parameters for Heroku Postgres.
Skyvia supports secure connections to Heroku Postgres.
Select Slack objects to replicate.
Just select check boxes in a list of Slack objects (e.g. Channels, Notifications, etc.). If necessary, you can tweak it in more details - replicate only part of Slack fields and filter data to replicate.
You don't need to prepare the Heroku Postgres database - Skyvia creates the tables corresponding to the Slack objects - Channels, Notifications, etc. - automatically.
Skyvia can more than just create a copy of the Slack data in Heroku Postgres - it can keep this copy in an up-to-date state automatically. All you need is to configure a schedule when to update the Heroku Postgres replica database.
When updating the data copy in the Heroku Postgres database, Skyvia does not perform full data copying each time. It retrieves only updated data from Slack and writes only necessary updates to the Heroku Postgres database.
With Skyvia you can copy all the data from a Slack object or disable replication for some Slack object fields. You can also configure filters for data to replicate.
If you need more than just to copy data from Slack to Heroku Postgres, you may use Skyvia's powerful data import functionality. Skyvia's data import tools will correctly extract Slack data, transform it, and load to Heroku Postgres when Heroku Postgres tables have different structure than Slack objects.
