About the Services
Rivery
Rivery is a fully-managed SaaS platform. It provides a unified platform for data ingestion, transformation, and workflow orchestration. It started in 2018 and now has offices in New York, Austin, Tel Aviv, and London.
Rivery uses an easy, no-code wizard interface. But for flexibility, it allows coding in Python and SQL for data transformations. Rivery refers to data pipelines as Rivers. You can do the following 3 types of rivers:
- Source to Target River for data ingestion,
- Logic River for data transformation and workflow orchestration,
- and Action River to make REST API calls.
Any of these rivers can benefit from the 200+ pre-built connectors.
Rivery runs exclusively in Amazon Web Services (AWS). So, the compliance and security certificates of the AWS platform are in effect. Rivery does not keep any customer data that flows in their pipeline.
AWS Glue
AWS Glue is a serverless data integration tool from Amazon. It helps you extract data from other cloud services offered by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Then, incorporate it into data lakes and data warehouses. It offers a cost-efficient way to process data for good use in analytics and machine learning. AWS Glue provides a performance-optimized infrastructure for running Apache Spark for data integration. It supports batch and stream processing. And it speeds up data ingestion, processing, and integration.
AWS Glue covers various data integration scenarios. This includes ETL, ELT, reverse ETL, data ingestion, and replication.
AWS Glue encrypts all customer data at rest using industry-standard encryption algorithms. AWS Glue also provides customers with fine-grained access control over their metadata. It is compliant with various security standards such as SOC 1/2/3, PCI DSS Level 1, and HIPAA Eligible Service.
Skyvia
Skyvia is a no-code cloud data integration platform which supports a big variety of data integration scenarios including ETL, ELT, Reverse ETL, data migration, one way and bi-directional data sync, workflows automation, etc. It was created by Devart in 2014 to boost data-related performance: cloud data integration, backup and management.
Skyvia offers more than 160 ready-made data connectors for dozens of thousands of free users, including 2000+ paid customers. It's easy to use, offers drag-and-drop interface and suits both IT professionals and business users.
Skyvia has flexible pricing plans for each product, making it applicable for businesses of all sizes, from a small startup to an enterprise company. Also, Skyvia's freemium model allows users to start using it with a completely free plan and then decide if further upgrade is needed.
It is hosted in a Microsoft Azure cloud which provides the best data security and complies with a wide set of security standards including SOC 2, ISO 27001, and many others.

Connectors
Rivery
Rivery supports 200+ connectors for databases like Oracle and SQL Server. And SaaS platforms like Salesforce and HubSpot. And flat files like CSV. It also has the ability to connect to online sources through REST APIs. And use Rivery WebHooks to connect HTTP endpoints to cloud data warehouses. And stream real-time events and notifications.
Rivery regularly updates its connectors to ensure 100% compatibility when you connect.
AWS Glue
AWS Glue supports the following connection types:
• JDBC-compatible data sources,
• Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS),
• Amazon Redshift,
• Amazon DocumentDB,
• Kafka,
• MongoDB,
• MongoDB Atlas.
But there’s no mention of the latest number of data connectors available for AWS Glue.
AWS Glue provides an API for creating custom connectors. With this, you can connect to data sources unknown to AWS Glue.
Skyvia
Skyvia offers more than 160 connectors and the number is rapidly growing. Among these connectors there are CRM, accounting, email marketing, e-commerce, human resources, marketing automation, payment processing, product management, all major databases and DWH, flat files, etc. Customers can also leave request for creating a new data connector and Skyvia will prioritize building it without additional payment.
Transformation
Rivery
Transformations happen in a Logic River. And inside you can use SQL for in-warehouse transformations. Or, use Python for more complex scenarios. You can also use conditional logic. It will allow you to get different transformations depending on a condition. Then, you can put the transformed results into a variable, a Python DataFrame, a flat file, or a database table. But note that Python is for Professional and Enterprise plans only.
AWS Glue
AWS Glue can generate ETL code to transform source data into target schemas. Its graphical user interface (GUI) supports various types of transformations. These include handling missing values, filtering, mapping, aggregating, pivoting, and more.
If you prefer to code your transformations, AWS Glue supports Python and Scala.
Skyvia
Skyvia is a full-featured ETL service that allows building data integrations with powerful transformations between multiple data sources. It is a no code solution with support for data splitting, complex expressions and formulas, lookups, and many more operations.
Skyvia's Data Flow and Control Flow components can be used for building more advanced ETL data pipelines with support for multiple connectors and additional features like modifying the data, flowing through them, splitting flows of records into multiple outputs, or modifying data flow variables.
Support
Rivery
Rivery offers various ways to get you up and running in your data integration efforts. It includes 24/7 global support. And also, on-boarding and dedicated customer success services that vary by plan.
It also has a community forum where customers can share their knowledge. And finally, online documentation, webinars, and eBooks. Check these resources first prior to sending support issues.
AWS Glue
AWS Glue provides different levels of support for its customers. These include Basic, Developer, Business, and Enterprise.
Basic support is free. And this includes access to AWS Trusted Advisor and AWS Personal Health Dashboard.
Developer support includes all Basic support features, then add a 12-hour response time resolution of cases.
Business support includes all Developer support features, plus 1-hour response time for cases and Infrastructure Event Management.
Enterprise support includes all Business support features, plus a dedicated Technical Account Manager (TAM) and Infrastructure Event Management with customizations.
You can reach AWS Glue customer support by creating a case in the AWS Support Center. AWS Glue provides an SLA of 99.9% availability for its service. If you need premium support, you can avail of AWS Premium Support.
Skyvia
Skyvia offers free email, chat (on website or in app), and forum support for all customers. It also provides extensive documentation with lots of tutorials and user guides.
For paid customers there's also a phone support option, and additional support options for Enterprise customers.
Pricing
Rivery
Rivery lets you select between annual contracts or on-demand, pay-as-you-go pricing. Pricing is based on a credit system called the Rivery Pricing Unit (RPU). You compute RPUs based on the processed data size in bytes. Or the number of executions for API-based sources.
The pricing plans include the Starter for $0.75/RPU and Professional for $1.20/RPU. But for the Enterprise plan, you need to contact sales.
All plans include the following:
• Unlimited users,
• All 200+ sources and 15 targets,
• Unlimited usage,
• Reverse ETL,
• Change Data Capture (CDC),
• Unlimited SQL transformations,
• and 24/7 global support.
Python transformations, however, are only available in Professional and Enterprise plans. Note also that in the Starter plan you can only do up to a per hour synchronization. And up to 5-minute frequency for the higher plans.
AWS Glue
AWS Glue pricing depends on the number of Data Processing Units (DPUs) used per hour. DPUs are a measure of processing power and memory capacity. AWS Glue charges $0.44 per DPU hour. This means you pay only for what you use with no upfront costs or commitments.
AWS Glue also has Always Free AWS Glue 1 Million. It includes 1 million objects stored in the AWS Glue Data Catalog and 1 million requests/month.
Skyvia
Skyvia Data Integration is a freemium tool with an option to request a 14-day trial. Paid plans start from $19 per month. Pricing tiers (from Basic to Enterprise) vary by the number of successfully loaded records, frequency of scheduling and the inclusion of the advanced ETL features. There are no purchase commitments and customers are able to upgrade or downgrade at any time depending on their needs. A detailed comparison can be found here.
